Descripción
Life in the countryside during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa appears peaceful, with only compulsory labor and dances at the inn to disturb the routine. In reality, Hanča, the daughter of the largest landowner, is being forced into an unwanted marriage, while Vojta, an orphan desperately in love with her, is threatened with homelessness by his stepfather. Hanča’s father makes matters worse by having Vojta conscripted into the dragoons so he will stop pursuing Hanča. Bára cannot stand by and let such injustice happen, but she has no money to buy Vojta out of military service. Then she remembers a song about a queen writing a note to free her sweetheart from the army and decides to seek Vojta’s pardon directly from Maria Theresa. She must walk all the way to Vienna, along a long and dangerous road, and there is no guarantee she will even reach her destination. This Czech-language historical adventure is intended for children.
