Philosophy has traditionally been regarded as essentially European, forming the very core of the Western intellectual tradition. With Europe losing its central position as a political and intellectual power, however, philosophy must find new starting points from which to consider humanity’s place in the 21st-century world. Yuk Hui, a professor of philosophy at Erasmus University Rotterdam, argues that this situation calls for moving beyond the ideological opposition between East and West and embracing intellectual homelessness. Rather than neutralizing differences, this homelessness can become an opportunity for the individuation of thought. The contents are in Czech.
