České mapové sbírky – Novotná Eva (2025)

This Czech-language book provides a clear overview of the history, contents and public accessibility of 19 Czech and Moravian map collections held by archives, libraries, museums and universities. It presents their most important cartographic collections and unique items, including printed and manuscript maps, atlases, plans, globes and vedute. These include regional, cadastral, forestry, hydrological and geological maps, as well as urban and garden plans. The collections focus mainly on maps relating to Bohemia and Moravia, but also include examples depicting the Mediterranean, Alpine regions and Asia. Descriptions and analyses are accompanied by numerous reproductions of old maps, plans, globes and vedute dating from 1518 to 1920. The book also briefly introduces important cartographers and publishers, along with the curators and patrons who played a significant role in creating and developing the collections. Readers will also find information about the physical and electronic availability of selected map collections, together with practical details about services for researchers.
