Descripción
This Czech-language book traces the origins, development and present state of one of the relatively successful new religions of the 20th century. Although the Grail Movement has probably no more than 50,000 members, they can be found across much of the world, forming a marginal yet original and viable religious minority. The book provides a detailed description of the movement’s teachings and religious practices while also following the development of the community that comprises it. It places the formation and work of its founder, as well as the creation of his fundamental text, in the literary, cultural and religious context of German society at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It also examines the conflicts experienced by the new religious movement in interwar and postwar Germany, together with its missionary work and expansion into many different countries. Particular attention is paid to Czechoslovakia and Czechia, where this mission was exceptionally successful.
