Descripción
This book offers a detailed insight into the historical continuity between the old and new regimes, based on the results of an extensive quantitative survey of historical consciousness among witnesses to the period. Drawing on historiographical, political-science and sociological interpretations of the establishment, development and gradual erosion of the communist regime, Daniel Kunštát shows the social contexts through which people who experienced the era construct, or may construct, an image of the past. Particular attention is given not only to the systemic nature of normalization but also to everyday life during the Husák era. The book also addresses the problems of democratic transformation and subsequent post-1989 development. The text is in Czech.
