This medical physics textbook clearly explains the basic physical relationships and methods most commonly encountered in clinical or experimental medicine. Medical physics is a specialised interdisciplinary field that applies physical methods to living organisms and connects physics with the biological sciences. This fifth, updated edition includes new chapters and additional illustrations, and is intended not only for medical students but also for students of other fields, including biomedical engineering. The methods explained in the book are based on various physical principles. Some, such as optical magnifying lenses and X-rays, have been known for more than 100 years, while others have only recently found applications through technological progress.
