Pravěké umění - Evoluce člověka a kultury – Clottes Jean (2021)

This Czech-language book explores the birth of human creativity in the context of human evolution, focusing particularly on the development, description and interpretation of prehistoric art. Its first part presents a model of anthropogenesis and human evolution, with emphasis on the emergence and migration of anatomically modern humans, Homo sapiens. It examines the everyday life of prehistoric hunter-gatherers, changes in Paleolithic industries, and the ways caves and rock shelters were used. In connection with the origins of human creativity, it analyzes the phenomenon of proto-art, including non-utilitarian artefacts created as early as the Lower and Middle Paleolithic. The book also considers the meaning of prehistoric artistic artefacts through theories and hypotheses about the origins of creativity and art. Its second part presents artistic expressions from the Upper Paleolithic, including the Aurignacian, Gravettian, Solutrean and Magdalenian periods, together with their material technologies. Portable and parietal art is systematically and chronologically categorized, described and interpreted in the context of its discovery and current knowledge.
