This two-volume textbook is intended for medical students studying biochemistry at medical faculties, where the subject follows a chemistry course. It provides a comprehensive overview of metabolism, chapters on the respiratory chain and oxidative phosphorylation, followed by explanations of the catabolic and anabolic transformations of individual nutrients and structural substances in the body. Knowledge of basic metabolic processes is then applied to individual tissues. The medical biochemistry textbook also offers detailed information about hormones. For the second edition, the text was revised and expanded, with some sections adjusted to emphasize the relationships between individual metabolic processes. Particular attention is paid to the regulation of physiological processes, and a new chapter covers adipose tissue and its metabolism. The contents are in Czech.
