The second volume of the series Fontes iuris romani presents translations of fundamental sources of Roman law into Czech, featuring selected titles from the 16th to the 35th books of the Digest seu Pandectae by Emperor Justinian from 533 AD. Readers will find sections dedicated to the Roman legal concept of contracts, such as deposit, mandate, and partnership agreements, as well as legal regulations concerning sales contracts, pledges, betrothal, and marriage; timeless titles addressing legal presumptions, ignorance of law or fact, witnesses, and evidence used in Roman courts. The opinions of Roman jurists on guardianship and custody, maintenance obligations, and inheritance law are also introduced. This critical edition and the first translation of the Digest into Czech includes the original text and is supplemented by extensive footnotes, a subject index, a name index, and a local index.
