Descripción
This Latin textbook takes a different approach from those traditionally offered in the Czech and international markets. Instead of proceeding through brief definitions, lists of exceptions and extensive practice exercises, it explains individual grammatical phenomena in continuous passages intended to be read without memorising separate sections. Each passage is illustrated with a Latin saying or quotation that is well known in European cultural history and has been repeated for centuries. By analysing these examples, readers can learn Latin grammar while fully understanding the structure of some of the best-known sentences in European history in their original language. Even the most complex parts of Latin grammar are explained, albeit briefly, making further study in more detailed textbooks easier. The book also includes a basic Latin-Czech vocabulary, a clear summary of Latin morphology, an overview of several important points of Latin syntax, and an index of the Latin sayings and expressions used in the text. The contents are in Czech, and the book also provides information on individual Latin quotations that readers may need to translate or actively use in communication.
