Descripción
The author of Hlas a jiné povídky, which received an honorable mention from the jury of the Miloslav Švandrlík Prize, loosely follows up his book Muž v karanténě with this collection of humorous pieces and feuilletons. The coronavirus period and its associated restrictions provide a common thread, although the pandemic does not feature in every story and influenced the author’s writing to varying degrees. Rather than portraying the life of society as a whole, the book captures the everyday experiences of one man and, at times, his family, along with less ordinary adventures such as attending a cooking course with Roman Vaněk, deciding to travel blindfolded through central Prague, driving a dog sled, or restoring hiking trail markers. The contents are in Czech, with illustrations by the well-known cartoonist Petr Urban.
