In this Czech-language detective novel, the world’s most famous detective faces another perplexing case. Hercule Poirot agrees to investigate the murder of Richard Davenport’s brother, for which Richard’s fiancée has voluntarily confessed. He boards a bus travelling from London to Kingfisher Hill, a luxurious retreat for the wealthy and aristocratic, where the Davenport family lives. During the journey, one passenger refuses to sit in her assigned place because she believes she will be murdered there. Poirot exchanges seats with her, but could this strange incident be connected to the apparently solved crime at Kingfisher Hill?
