The Czech-language thriller The Sound of Echoes, a gripping sequel to Speed of Sound, reveals the conclusion of the suspenseful story. Autistic teenager Eddie Parks had to flee to save his life because of his knowledge and invention, but he has now returned to Harmony, a care home that is actually a secret government facility and was his home for sixteen years. With his remarkable invention, an echo sensor that can reconstruct sounds from the past, Eddie has achieved the one thing he wanted most: hearing his mother sing. But others intend to misuse the device, because with an echo sensor, the contents of no conversation would ever remain secret. Bob Stenson, director of the Society for the Protection of American Values, knows that whoever controls the device will control the future. To obtain it, he strikes at Eddie’s most vulnerable point and has Dr Skylar Drummond, the only person in the world Eddie truly trusts, kidnapped. Stenson has underestimated his victim, however. Eddie has the voices of the echoes on his side and must follow them into the most dangerous places to save Skylar.
