A mysterious stranger named Griffin arrives at an English village inn, completely concealed beneath bandages, and confines himself to his room. Driven away by the villagers, he turns to an old friend and reveals that he has discovered how to make himself invisible. Griffin intends to use his condition for treacherous purposes, but when his friend refuses to join him, he becomes murderous and threatens revenge on everyone who has betrayed him. Originally serialised in 1897, H. G. Wells’s The Invisible Man explores power, corruption and science and is regarded as a modern classic of science fiction.
