This Czech-language handwriting practice book gradually reviews all letter and numeral forms for writing in unjoined handwriting. Each lowercase letter is accompanied by a short text about an animal whose name begins with that letter, introducing pupils to a variety of animals. The book includes tasks that support reading comprehension and develop thinking skills, with a riddle on every page and a simple form of self-assessment. Pupils also have space to work with mistakes. The exercises connect with lessons in elementary studies and the Czech language. Pupils are introduced to joined-handwriting letter forms as well, learning gradually to read them when combined into syllables and words. They do not learn to write these forms; after reading the letters, syllables or words, they copy them in unjoined handwriting, developing the ability to read text written in joined handwriting.
