This album presents original Czechoslovak chanson recordings from 1964 to 2021. The 22-track compilation offers a representative overview of chanson production from the mid-1960s to 2021 and allows listeners to follow its development and different forms. It ranges from the realistic chansons of Ljuba Hermanová and Hana Hegerová, through the dramatic style of Zuzka Lonská, Marika Gombitová and Zuzana Talpová, and the engaged chansons of Marta Kubišová and Alena Havlíčková, to more poetic songs by Hana Hegerová, Hana Zagorová, Lenka Filipová, Jitka Molavcová and Václav Neckář. The album concludes with distinctive singer-songwriter forms performed by Václav Koubek and Radůza. Seven recordings are released here for the first time, including two that appear on CD for the first time.
