I´m Your Man: Život Leonarda Cohena - 2 CDmp3 (Leído por Dana Černá, Miroslav Krobot)

"When they told me I was a Cohen, I believed it. I didn't take it as an insignificant piece of information." The biography of the writer and songwriter, whose Jewish surname ("priest") predestined him to speak to others for the sake of salvation, presents the world-famous wandering Canadian in all his wonderful complexity. The acclaimed British journalist spoke with him during the years when Cohen, after his manager's embezzlement, had no choice but to earn his pension again through worldwide tours – thus we welcomed him in Prague on the brink of his eighties, where he sang to us on his knees with a fedora on his chest. Simmons captures the confession of a perfectionist tormented by depression, which he fought off through self-medication in the form of songs, sex, drugs, and zen. She describes the conflicts etched into his individual books and albums, his transition from guitar to synthesizer, and his relationships with muses from Marianne and Suzanne to Anjani, without resorting to sensationalism. The result is a testimony to the transformations of the bard, whose penetrating insight surpasses all his previously published portraits written by men in Czech. Perhaps precisely because here Cohen confided in the one to whom he has long modelled his songs: a woman attuned to his efforts to achieve harmony in life. Length of the recording: 21 hours 42 minutes.
