This two-CD MP3 audiobook in Czech presents the memories of Jan Eskymo Welzl, the legendary Czech adventurer known as Eskymo Welzl or Arctic Bismarck. A native of Zábřeh in Moravia, Welzl was a polar traveler, writer, explorer, adventurer, hunter, trader, sailor, gold prospector and chief. His experiences on the New Siberian Islands, in Alaska and in Canada during the first decades of the twentieth century describe the way of life of the Inuit, hunting large game, the local landscape, the search for gold and stories from his years in the far north. During his visits to Europe, his accounts were recorded first by Rudolf Těsnohlídek and later by Edvard Valenta and Bedřich Golombek. Their book achieved great success at home and abroad and inspired acclaimed stage productions by Divadlo Husa na provázku and Dejvické divadlo. Kryštof Bartoš reads the experiences of this celebrated Czech adventurer with enthusiasm and empathy.
