This two-CD edition presents Progres 2’s Třetí kniha džunglí, a major Czech art-rock project recorded in 1981 at the Pezinok studio and released the following year. The album continues the intensity of the group’s earlier work, combining Miloš Morávek’s powerful guitar playing with Roman Dragoun’s singing and keyboards, supported by drummer, singer, bandleader and producer Zdeněk Kluka and bassist Pavel Pelc. Vladimír Čort serves as the sole lyricist. Songs such as “Muž, který se podobá odvrácené straně Měsíce” and “Neznámé nevpouštěj dál” became especially well known, while all the songs and instrumental passages form a distinctive whole. The reissue has been remastered under the artists’ supervision, with artwork reconstructed by Václav Houf and the original sleevenote, photographs and complete lyrics retained. The second CD adds ten bonuses selected by Pavel Váně, combining two studio recordings with eight live recordings from 1981 to 2016 and showing how the songs changed through new instrumental and partly personnel line-ups.
