Fifty years after Želva, Olympic presents Trilobit, a new album featuring fourteen fresh compositions by Petr Janda that sum up the band’s entire rock history. The collection ranges from simple 1960s pop songs and moving 1970s and 1980s-style ballads to hard-driving guitar numbers and thoughtful reflections on life, all under the motto “New Energy”. This energy is reinforced by three overseas guests: Czech-born producer Mirek Váňa, guitarist Alex Darson and keyboard player Eren Basbuk, whose duets with Olympic’s classic line-up bring fresh life to the recordings. The lyrics come from Janda, Ondřej Fencl, Miroslav Černý, Vlasta Henych and, on the final blues-tinged song, Pavel Chrastina. From the slightly bizarre opening song about a trilobite, the album offers proof that Olympic remains remarkably vital after fifty-five years and hundreds of songs. The richly presented booklet includes all the lyrics and a special set of photographs by Michal Matyáš.
