Description

Private Lives / Sukromne zivoty DVD
Synopsis
Several male-authored narratives sensitively depict the female world, at least as acutely as female authors themselves. Director Dušan Hanák delved into the theme of women in Slovak cinema, particularly with his projects Quiet Joy (1985) and Private Lives (1990). In Hanák's films, women often find themselves in their fragile, small, enclosed worlds. They quietly resist, excluding men from their close proximity to avoid vulnerability. Private Lives is a psychological story about the life paths of two step-sisters, actress Elena and psychologist Nadi, exploring their complex relationship and individual journeys.
