Synopsis
A young man, about twenty years old, feverishly boards a long-distance bus from Prague. Late at night, he disembarks in Kromperk and hitchhikes cars heading towards the border zone. Unbeknownst to him, he's been followed the whole time by a man in a blue Octavia. The man in the car hits the hitchhiker at full speed. The next day, the dead man is found in a ditch by the road, without any identification. Major Kalaš and Lieutenant Varga arrive in Kromperk to investigate. As the investigation unfolds, more deaths and mysterious robberies follow, revealing the fear of respectable citizens about their dishonorable actions during the occupation. Fear is a detective story about unraveling a case, set against the backdrop of the fear of honorable citizens being exposed for their dishonest behavior. The film is based on the detective novel Kilometr 19 by Eduard Fiker. Major Kalaš also appears in later films such as "The Killer Hides His Face," "In the Trail of Blood, and Diagnosis: Death.
