Synopsis
Princess Dyšperanda and her maid Káča are eager to marry but lack suitors. When a hunter offers to find them husbands in exchange for their signatures in blood, they hastily agree. However, this cunning man turns out to be the devil, and the girls are destined for hell! Fortunately, the brave ex-soldier Martin Kabát steps in, determined to save their innocent souls from the devil. This timeless fairy tale, filmed in 1956 by Josef Mach, is based on Jan Drda's play, with whom Mach collaborated on the screenplay. The costumes and stylized studio decorations bear the distinctive mark of their creator, painter, and illustrator Josef Lada.
