Mais comme l'établissement appartient à une société par actions dont personne ne peut hériter, on la prend pour une folle. Il s'avère que son héritage est en réalité un petit hôtel miteux portant le même nom, situé dans le IVᵉ arrondissement. Le personnel se compose de trois jeunes chômeurs qui remboursent ainsi leur loyer en retard. Le premier client est le riche Vladimir Rychta Rohan, dont les parents ont passé leur lune de miel dans cet hôtel.
