Once he finds himself in a hopeless situation, he ends his life by taking a lethal tablet so that he will not reveal his fellow workers or endanger the fifteen gendarmes present and their families. Based on previously unpublished archival materials, the book describes the circumstances immediately before and after the event, particularly the investigation and court proceedings that follow liberation.
