Description

Lost Children / Ztracenci DVD
Synopsis
The dramatic story, based on the eponymous short story by Alois Jirásek, highlights the absurdity of war through the experiences of three soldiers in the Austrian army. Set in the midst of the Prussian-Austrian War in the mid-18th century, a hussar, a dragoon, and an infantryman coincidentally meet and seek refuge together in seclusion. Each bears scars of war in different ways, yet they all yearn for simple human happiness. Initially holding varying attitudes towards military service, their time in seclusion and exposure to rural life gradually leads them to reject returning to the Austrian army. However, when their solitude is disrupted by Prussian forces, these three "lost souls" reluctantly take up arms again to protect a fleeing family and child, ultimately paying for their actions with their lives.
