History of Philosophy / Filosofska historie DVD

Synopsis
Miss Elis rents her apartment to Litomyšl students, philosophers Frýbort, Vavřena, Špína, and Zelenka. The assertive Frýbort and the quiet Špína both love Márinka, daughter of their landlady Mrs. Krupková. Špína struggles to express his feelings for Márinka and is troubled by her apparent disinterest. Vavřena is in love with Lenka, a ward of the actuary Roubínek, although Roubínek prefers his daughter Lotta for Vavřena. The students' philosophical May Day celebration is canceled by Metternich as a purely Czech festival, but they celebrate it anyway with the whole town. For this, Miss Elis's tenants are punished with detention. Špína, unsuccessful in both his final exams and his love for Márinka, joins the Order of Mercy in Prague. The year 1848 brings new life to peaceful Litomyšl with the establishment of the constitution. Frýbort and Vavřena become officers of the student legion, which sets out to assist Prague in its uprising against Austrian absolutism...
