We regret to inform you about sad news. Marian Labuda is dead.

Famous Slovakian actor Marian Labuda was born in 1944 in Hontianské Nemce. He worked at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, and in 1968, co-founded theatre company Divadlo na Korze. He also played at the National Theatre in Brno and at the Theatre in Vinohrady.

In the early 80s, he was noticed by Czech directors. Juraj Herz entrusted him the title role in the comedy the Bulldogs and Cherries (1981). With episode jobs came Dusan Klein (Radical Cut) and Jiri Krejcik (Salesman of Humor). But his most beautiful film, however, is the driver Pávek from the comedy My Sweet Little Village (Vesnicko ma strediskova), which is famous across continents. As his second most famous film can be considered The End of Old Times (Konec starych casu).

Marián got a Czech Lion nominations, thanks to the movies King Ubu (Kral Ubu) and Garden, for which he got this award. He also held a price Slnko v Sieti.

Personally, I like him in the role of King Ubu, which he played royally, but I understand that the absurd drama is not for everyone. In addition to classic evening films such as Roming, Angels (Andele vsedniho dne)I Served the King of England (Obsluhoval jsem anglickeho krale), Dobri holubi se vraceji or The Beggar's Opera (Zebracka opera), he also appeared in various fairy tales. Fairy tale Bride for Paddy is attached to my heart the most, but also Lotrando and Zubejda or Arabela Returns are without doubt fairy tales where Marián Labuda showed his acting talent.
