Synopsis
The wicked ruler Vladan (M. Slaný) plagued the land with his wars of conquest, while King Dobromil (J. Abrhám), who ruled over a kingdom beyond a great lake, was benevolent, and his people lived a fairy-tale existence. The inviolability of this kingdom was said to be guaranteed by a magic hidden within a precious jewel, the ruby heart. Queen of Fire (J. Schneiderová) covets this heart to win her eternal rivalry with her sister, the Queen of Water (S. Postlerová). To force King Dobromil to surrender the heart, she curses his daughter Mariana (P. Tenorová), transforming her into a flame. None of the young men in Dobromil's kingdom have the courage to rescue Mariana. The king, using a magical ring, transports himself to Vladan's realm, where he discovers a brave young man named Tadeáš (M. Kraus), who is fearless and perpetually cheerful. It seems nothing stands in the way of the princess's rescue. However, the Queen of Fire and King Vladan are not easily deterred from their evil plans.
